Once Upon A Forest - pretty.

Stardust - I love flash :-(

Color Lovers - It's a place for people to tell other people about their favourite colors or palettes. I love the idea.

Long time no update.

I'm so lame :-(

Methods I could use to get around the lack of posts recently:

  • just stop
  • link more, post less
  • dedicate one hour per day at work to this

Tonight I spent a VERY long time reading web pages and doing not much else. iPod's ROCK. It's been a great night. Just what I needed.

The Grim Meathook Future

Unintelligent Design - A competitor to Flying Spaghetti Monster, or Malarkey?

How To Find a Great Domain Name - Somewhat relevant for me, I really want to get off Bratdot sometime soon.

The Cows Will Have Their Revenge! - Or, "Global Warming Hits Tipping Point, And We're All Going To Die", Or, "Siberia is literally made of frozen cow poo and it's melting".

The Emergence of the Plotical Blogosphere

Boredom And The Workplace

Contraceptive Pill Inventor - Interviewed!

Vanilla - Finally someone does an article on vanilla. I'm enjoying vanilla more and more as I age, and I've been wondering why "good" vanilla things are so hard to come by. It's the price, stupid!

Home Sweet Home

12-Aug-05

While my housemates are convinced that I've been abducted by aliens and replaced by some kind of getting-up-early-machine, the truth is somewhat more devious - I DIDNT EVEN GO HOME LAST NIGHT.

One day .. I will write some crap down so I stop posting updates like this. I promise.

Hello from Sydney!

11-Aug-05

Yep, Sydney.

I hate Sydney. Since I got here I've paid $12.90 to go one stop on the train, and then I've stood in the co-location centre for a little over eight hours. My back/feet/brain hurt.

.. And yet - it's still better than if I'd had to actually look at anything or anyone from this dirty little hellhole.

Ashley Wood - Works well with others. Follow links to her friends to find more great interface experiments. Yum.

Guy Who Invented Internet With Al Gore Interviewed By BBC - TBL rocks.

Google News - RSS Feeds

How to find warez with google china - Apparently China has more warez sites than most. And google now indexes them.

Damn That Mouse - The story of Disney Vs The Air Pirates. How copyright can get out of hand when big business feels threatened.

Update

10-Aug-05

I ordered my new laptop, a dell 700m, on Friday last week. I'm having trouble waiting for it. Apparently my new PDA hasn't left the warehouse yet. I'm having trouble waiting for it.

All up, waiting sucks.

Silence, and other things.

I took some time off. I need to get my butt into gear and write up some nice content that I can post when I want a day off.

I had a great weekend.

I am not going to post on weekends, I've decided. So Saturday and Sunday can stay a little sacred. So I only missed friday (which I spent sitting at home coding all night to make an RSS to XHTML converter. It was wicked fun. It doesnt work very well, because I tried to build an RSS-collecter which grabs feeds and merges them, while I was at it.

Freeware Games!

Kungfu, Meet Science - is this any good? flash and freebsd arent buddies

Creative Zen Vision - Who are these people kidding? Video on a handheld? I just cant imagine anything more pointless. Obviously I'm a fool, but I just dont see the point - despite everyone I know creaming themselves over a possible iPod video.

Standards Compliance Pays Off!

04-Aug-05

Finally, my obsession with XHTML and CSS has paid off. Whilst daydreaming about the recent news that technorati now has a "mobile" site, and hopes more blogs will begin to support mobiles .. I decided to do just that.

A little CSS hackery and it was done.

I loaded up my site on my mobile (a K700, for those keeping score at home), checked what did and didnt work. First of all, anything to do with width needed to go - my screen is approximately 800 pixels skinnier than my laptop, and you could really tell. So no width tricks.

I then decided that my links were kinda pointless - I'd only want to click them on a machine that could handle it (and if thats the case, it would be looking for the "screen" CSS sheet not the "handheld" one). So I set those to "display: none".

And the sidebar .. it really just doesnt make sense to have such a thing on this site. Gone. "display: none" to the rescue!

And that was it. Done. Remarkable.

The Island

What on earth was Ewan thinking?!?! God it's awful.

Bob's Cube - looks fun.

RSS Feed.

02-Aug-05

The latest round of insomnia brings us .. an RSS feed! See the sidebar. The feed contains just the linky goodness, no whining from me.

I'm gonna lay quietly in the dark and dread tomorrow's sleep deprived angst.

Why Do You Stay Up So Late?" - This is today's Best Thing Ever. Requires Flash and sound. So good.

The Moon And Mars - NASA's Plan for the Future

Slashdot to go CSS - Hooray!

Single Photon Beam - That's it. Another Neal Stephenson future-device is almost ready to build

Filesharing post Grokster - This is a really mainstream writeup of a fairly techy topic. She does well, but kinda misses the point by referring to "the shadow internet" and so on .. Still really decent handling of the issue.

Is the Gameboy dead? - I doubt it, as the PSP still has to prove itself in the market .. but the GBA might be nearing the end of it's lifespan.

Kim Jong Ill's Bodyguards - Interesting little video interview. Kinda scary if it's true.

Wacky Wavy Flailing Arm Inflatable Tube Men

01-Aug-05

While the Family Guy movie rules my life .. where is all the mainstream coverage of ICE ON FREAKIN' MARS?!

I can accept that it's not everyone's favourite kind of news, but this is a SERIOUS pointer towards life on Mars .. I cant beleive people aren't covering this in huge detail and demanding further investigation.

Anyway, on with the links, huh?
